EMÍLIO NHABAI ADVOGADOS AND THE LAW SCHOOL OF UEM SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
The Managing Director of the law firm Emílio Nhabai Advogados and the Director of the Law School of Eduardo Mondlane University, Eduardo Chiziane, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 14 May this year.
The signing forms part of a joint commitment between the two institutions to contribute to the training of legal professionals capable of meeting the challenges of the country’s legal market. The agreement constitutes an important instrument for academic and professional cooperation, with a specific focus on practical training and academic enrichment for UEM law students.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director-General highlighted the commitment to strengthening the academic training of students at Eduardo Mondlane University.
“Legal training cannot be limited solely to the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom. Practicing law also requires practical experience, exposure to real-life cases and a genuine understanding of how institutions and law firms operate,” said the managing partner of Emílio Nhabai Advogados.
The memorandum aims to enable students from the UEM Faculty of Law to undertake supervised placements at Emílio Nhabai Advogados, combining theory and practice.
“Students will have the opportunity to participate in supervised activities at our firm, enabling them to develop professional skills,” said the lawyer, who sees the initiative as a way of contributing to the country’s development, as well as giving back to the Faculty for the tools it provided him during his time as a law student.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Faculty of Law at Eduardo Mondlane University, Eduardo Chiziane, began by thanking the firm Emílio Nhabai Advogados for the initiative, believing that it could contribute significantly to improving the training of students wishing to pursue a career in law.
For the Director, rather than merely a cooperation agreement between the parties, the event is a source of pride for the Faculty’s academic leadership, seeing a former student who has gone on to make a name for himself in the national legal profession. He added that this is a sign that the University has always prioritized quality in the training of legal professionals.
